Newtown Student Theatre Festival

Newtown Arts Company's Summer Theatre Festival Newtown Arts Company, in partnership with the Newtown Theatre, is pleased to announce the second annual Newtown Student Theatre Festival!

Monday, April 30 through Friday, May 4, 2012

Newtown Theatre (Bucks County, PA)

120 North State Street, Newtown, PA  18940

Kristin Kauffman, Festival Director

Marcia Wittmann, Festival Administrator

Produced by Nancy Pickering and Eric Silverman

Our first-ever festival held this past spring was a rousing success, attracting over 400 students from 16 area high schools, and received rave reviews:

“Feedback was excellent and appreciated, both positive comments and constructive criticism.”  - Sally Vogel, Pennridge High School

“This was our first time participating and our students took so much from the experience.” - Thomas Weaver, Cherry Hill High School East

“We had a great day and look forward to next year’s event!!”   -  Gina Chiolan, Neshaminy High School

Read an article on the 2011 festival published in the Bucks County Courier Times.

We want to provide area students with another opportunity to hone their artistic abilities before theatre professionals as well as their peers, so we hope you’ll join us for an educational — as well as fun — experience.

The deadline for registration is Friday, March 9, 2012. A check or money order covering registration fees ($40 per production) and tickets ($15 per person), along with your play or musical title(s), must be submitted by Friday, March 30.

Ticket prices include an evening performance of the modern classic Into the Woods presented by Newtown Arts Company. This Tony Award-winning musical, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, is a quirky tapestry of fractured fairy tales inhabited by cockeyed characters that portrays what happens after “happily ever after.” Into the Woods is beloved by young people worldwide.
