Popular television personality Don Polec, well known by fans of Philadelphia’s Channel 6 “Action News” as well as ABC’s “Good Morning America,” is slated to tackle a new challenge -- appearing in his first live theatre production. Polec has been cast as Vinnie in our upcoming production of Neil Simon's Tony-Award-winning comedy, "The Odd Couple," June 20 through 26 at the historic Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State Street, Newtown, Pa.
Polec can be thought of as a precursor of YouTube. For over 20 years at a time before the Internet, cell-phone cameras and videos that go viral, he produced two-minute segments on quirky and out-of-the-ordinary everyday happenings for “Don Polec’s World,” a highlight of "Action News" three nights a week. He also brought his unique observations to “Good Morning America” as a feature correspondent. He consistently won accolades for “Best Feature” from the Philadelphia Press Club and The Associated Press every year from 1983 to 1994.
Asked about this appearance, Polec joked in his typical off-beat manner, “It’ll be nice to be in a show where people can’t just click me off with a remote control.” learn more...
