In addition to its regular 6-show season, Newtown Arts is planning a special production of "The Rotten Princess" at the end of February. There are lots of roles for teens, kids and maybe even a few adults. The auditions are Feb 13th -- the rehearsals will all get condensed into evenings the week of Feb 20-27 (so it will be a short concentrated commitment) and the show will take twice on Feb 27th and once on Feb 28th.

There are a few main roles and there are choruses too. Actors will learn about 4-5 songs, some simple choreography and a fun script.

Proceeds will benefit both Newtown Arts and the Newtown Theatre.

Newtown Arts Company will hold auditions on Saturday, February 13, 2009, at 12 noon for its February production of "The Rotten Princess," a play for children and the young at heart. This play is a lighthearted adaptation of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" told with some song, some dance, a lot of fun and an important message. There are several parts parts for young adults, 13-17, many parts in the chorus for children of all ages as well as some adult roles too. The play will have three performances the weekend of February 27th and 28th, and will have a concentrated rehearsal process the week preceding.
